Millie the Pug tunes into "Wilfred"

This feisty little pug enjoys watching "Wilfred," although she's jealous that she can't misbehave the way the TV canine does and get away with it.

Wilfred's doggone dry wit is a real howl

Congratulations to "Wilfred," one of the funniest new sitcoms to shine on the TV horizon. This fictional fantasy with a smudge of reality was recently signed for a second season by FX after debuting on June 23, 2011. The storyline revolves around Wilfred, an extremely crude but hilarious guy in a dog suit, and his relationship with his human best friend, Ryan.

Upon tuning into this dog-outsmarts-man show, many find themselves mesmerized at the notion of watching a guy in a gray dog suit smoke and drink beer as he both antagonizes and adores his human friend in 30-minute chunks. Then, when it's least expected, Wilfred abandons his intellectual platform and displays undeniable canine compulsions. These actions include hating postal carriers, destroying the vacuum cleaner, being duped by a laser light, and thinking a boy who pretends to throw a ball for him to fetch is a great magician.

The show itself has evoked an array of emotions within its ever-growing audience, and it is as well-written as it is superbly acted and directed. It originally debuted in Australia, and was adapted for U.S. television by "Family Guy's" David Zuckerman. It pushes the envelope of conventionalism right out the window, and to describe it as "bizarre" would be an understatement.

However, if it's humor you crave, then be sure you're in front of the TV on Thursday nights so that you can take a journey into the imagination beyond anything Rod Serling could have ever conceived. Kudos to FX for presenting "Wilfred" and extending this seven-year-old human dog's life for another sensational season.

The role of Wilfred is portrayed by one of the show's original Australian creators, Jason Gann. Elijah Wood plays the role of Wilfred's buddy, Ryan Newman.

I saw the very first film student episode of that. Right off the bat it was a very clever concept. Good on them!
